MackSolo Team Update: Day 7
Ciao Tutti! Mack is still in #Syracusa, #Italy where he has been waiting for his permit to enter into Algeria. Unfortunately, this does seem to be turning into another Zara Miffy story, as we sadly have to announce that the Algerian authorities have decided not to extend a permit to fly through their country. 😥
The team, therefore, is currently busy rerouting Mack's adventure through Africa ✈️ 🌍. Luckily, there is quite extensive in-house experience with flying through the new countries we are planning for with Mack, so it is less complicated than it might seem at face value💪. It will though take a bit of time. All fingers and toes crossed though please for a quick turnaround on this!!! 🤞🙏
Meanwhile, Mack has been busying himself the last days with improving his plane ✈️ and systems before changing continents. Before the start of his journey, he'd switched the variable pitch propeller that was on his plane for an E-props fixed pitch propeller to improve the efficiency of the plane. He has now been tweaking it with local Italian engineers to get as much efficiency out of it as humanly (or propellerly ;-)) possible. On his test flights, he reaches 160 knots now, which is super fast!!! Thank you a thousand times to Propellers E-Props for your support, allowing Mack to enhance the range and fuel consumption of his plane greatly and helping us keep Mack safer this way. Safety first! 👮
And finally a huge thank you to the the Director of the Avio Club Siracusa Roberto Tonicchi, to its President Giovanni Patti and to all the kind and welcoming engineers, pilots and others who have helped Mack so greatly.
PS: We are worrying a bit about Mack’s strange food choices though 😂😅
