MackSolo Team Update ā Day 130 āļø š
After long delays in different locations for "Patient & Steady Mack", then an overnight in an uninhabited island for "Mackinson Crusoe", there is now "Speedy Gonzales Mack" across the American continent š.
Yesterday he flew from #Puerto Vallarta, over high ground, back into the #USA, via #Laredo, #Texas, then onwards to the #fortworth, Aliance Perot airfield.
Both flights were quite interesting as he had to cross the Sierra Madre ranges ā° at high altitude (not that obvious for a microlight like Sharky āļøš¦) and also had to take heat in account. Factors that impact the performance of an aircraft. He and Sharky managed great but he did have a slight š¬ upon taking off from Laredo. Just listen him recounting the story in the video!
There is this famous quote from Louise Thaden: āA pilot who says he has never been frightened in an airplane is, Iām afraid, lying.ā š
Mack's final stop was at #fortworthtexas airfield, belonging to Ross Perot Jr. Not only did Henry Ross serve in the United States Air Force for eight and a half years (Mack is hoping to join the Royal Air Force too at some stage), in 1982 Perot co-piloted the first flight by š around the world at the age of 23. Being invited by him was a real accolade for Mack and, now at least, he is properly equipped with an appropriate Texan outfit: Hat and Boots š¤ !
Next stops #Bentonville, #Arkansas, #firstflight Kitty Hawk Airfield (where the Wright Brothers flew for the first time), followed by #NewYork, #JFK soon!!!
Thank you hugely for such warm welcomes everywhere!!! š
